《一个博物学家在华西》英文名《A naturalist in western China》是英国植物学家威尔逊(E.Henry Wilson)的著作。

威尔逊于1899年至1911年间在中国西部考察植物,他拍摄的大量照片成为当地的自然与人文景观考据。此英文本出版于1913年,内含照片插图100幅。

威尔逊在 1899年至1911年间,曾四次来到中国,三次进入横断山域考察。威尔逊被西方称为“打开中国西部花园的人”,他一共收集了65000多份的植物标本(共计4500种植物),并将1593种植物种子和168种植物的切根带回了西方国家。他引种了大量的园林花卉植物,其中有60种以他的名字命名。在他拍摄的照片里,除他研究的植物花卉外,还有大量当时该区域的人文地理历史照片,这些照片为我们对横断山域的综合研究,提供了珍贵的资料。(介绍参考

此书英文名:A naturalist in western China, with vasculum, camera, and gun; being some account of eleven years’ travel, exploration, and observation in the more remote parts of the Flowery kingdom。此书在1929年重版时易名为《中国——园林之母》(China Mother of Gardens)。
